OK! So we (I) am trying to plan some CHANGES in the kitchen
and every time I get a great idea I think long and hard about it and then change my mind.
Boy! This is hard! I think I sort of know what I may want?
There are still several options but
I do have one REALLY great idea cupboard wise!.....

I'm not too sure what to do about my fridge. I have always loved the juxtaposition of the stainless with the farmhouse look BUT I seem to be tired of it and have longed for a fridge that doesn't really LOOK like a fridge! I have always loved how in primitive styled homes they build their fridge in to look like a cupboard. A great example is Christine's fridge from 1871 Farmhouse (The Primitive Heart). She has the BEST light primitive styled home which appeals to me since I also love the lighter tones. Her home is the dreamiest!! In fact once you enter her home-you do NOT want to leave and go back to your own! I left there in the summer POUTING like a child because her home is so amazing! You can link to her site here
Our kitchen isn't normally look so bright, its just how I took the photos but I am still trying to figure out how to add some warmth. Its a little white for me........... whatever I do to replace the cupboards I better take that into consideration!
I'm pretty sure though how this will end-or at least that's how it's pictured in my head!
So that's what I have been up to lately. This and redecorating the girls room.
I will keep you posted on that as well!!
Be sure to give your own 2 cents on the matter! I love hearing from you!

Take care!

  1. Your home is charming ~ what about open shelves with some baskets on them brown warm, dried flowers,
those french farm towels rolled up with a little twine ? sounds yummy and yes I do love that refridgerator door.....charming.....dont stress .....good luck cant wait to see what you come up with .Lorraine

  2. You can do this Mel. . . and we all anxiously await the big reveal. . . :)

  3. I just covered my stainless dishwasher with a panel I made from wood veneer and command strips. I wanted white! lol Here's my post if you want to see what I mean. Maybe something similar would work on your fridge.

  4. Paint the new uppers several shades darker than the white you have. Use a wallpaper background inside or paint inside with color for a small pop. I love the clean crisp look of this room. I have it on my fridge from months ago as inspiration for what to do. My uppers are 100% gone and not returning.

  5. Looking forward to seeing what you do.

  6. I LoVe your kitchen, but I understand where you are coming from. We see it everyday and just want a change.maybe even painted a buttery color would make a difference against the white. I have oak cabinets in my kitchen stained in an early American finish. Some days I want to paint them out and then I'm satisfied with them again.....I think a change is just something we like to think about. Good luck whatever you go with. I know it will be beautiful! Keep us posted! Have a great day.
    Hugs. Marg.

  7. Looking forward to your choice, mand the end results, and the 1871 farmhouse also amazes me, so love her style and I too could move right in on it...I might have to bring along a few of my things for personal comfort but all and all that girl has farmhouse talent as you do here as well.

Your cupboards are so cool, yet I am sure you are coming up with something that will charm us.
My last home was amazing, I sold it during the hard hit economy and down sized into our investment home, yet I had no upper cabinets at all just art ball over simple and conversational, I so miss this look.

    Looking forward to your beauty.

  8. Hi Melanie, I love white so much... but I absolutely understand what you are saying! Looking forward to the changes... xoxo, Alexandra

  9. I am blushing over here! As much as I love my covered fridge, the are days when I would love a big stainless beauty with fresh ice on demand! I am sure whatever you do will be wonderful!

  10. A very very charming home!!! Love it!

  11. A planked wall in reclaimed barn board would warm up that wall where you plan to take the cupboards down.

  12. Beautiful and charming home.

  13. WOW...I love your home. Your pictures are just charming. I would have a hard time changing things.

  14. wow, love your pictures!!!!! hugs, angie from germany
